As a Mexican-Dutch-American and with passions spanning performing arts, music composition, choreography and playwriting, Maaike creates multidisciplinary works that live at the intersection of art and activism. Having received recognition across these fields, Maaike's creations are informed by technical training and a deep commitment to research. Maaike's artistic mission is centered on social change, specifically amplifying Latine and feminist voices while addressing broader global challenges. Whether composing an orchestral or chamber piece, writing a new play or choreographing for the stage, Maaike incorporates academic frameworks to ensure projects are both a technical feat and a meaningful contribution to the social justice landscape.
